One of my girls, Brandy, has been a little thin since I got her. She has been eating a good amount of food but doesn't seem to be bulking up any.
Should she be eating a little kitten food with her regular diet? Will mealworms help also?
She's not sick at all but she's just a little on the lighter side. What can cause that?

All hedgies are as different in size, shape and temperment as humans are. Frodo who is rather small gets more kitten food because he is also so very active. That boy plays and runs all night and even sometimes during the day. He is a rather lean fellow and small boned. He also gets more mealies because of the same thing. Odo is heavy and big boned and gets kitten food only as a treat along with a lesser amount of mealies. Marco gets extra mealies and crickets (his favorite) and kitten food because at first he was so thin but now is starting to fill out a litte. The heavier he gets, the less kitten food. He is not as active as Frodo and dosen't burn off as much fat.
You didn't say how many mealies she gets or how often so I can't suggest anything there, but IMO I think it would be ok to add some kitten food to her diet.

I just bought some mealies for her the other day. I gave her 5, which she ate right up.. the 6th one she kinda chewed and spit out.. it was nasty. I stopped at 5. LOL
I will be getting some kitten food as soon as I get a little $$. It's cheap anyhow.

I'm finishing off a bag of Actrium adult cat food. I'm going to be getting some RC and CSFTCLS as soon as I get paid. I've been wanting to switch for a while but the food was lasting FOREVER.

you could get a little kitten food, or something higher in fat, that might help you add some weight. I noticed that once I gave my new girl some spikes delight with her food and she had food available all the time she was putting on a couple grams a day.

That's what I am feeding right now. RC Slim 38 and CLFTCLS Lite. I have been giving some CSFTCLS Kitten formula to Frodo and Marco and it seems to do nothing for Frodo as weight gain goes but he is so active, I believe that he is just burning it right back off. It IS putting some weight on Marco though and all of my hedgies just love the stuff. For a third item in the mix, I have also tried Innova, CA Natural and Wellness (both the Lite and the Salmon Flavor) but to date have had no luck with those. The kitten food is a little higher in fat than recommended but I am going on a hedgie by hedgie program with it. It seems to be working with Marco. Once he puts some weight on, I will slowly wean him down on it. Remember though, that some hedgies are just small and will stay that way no matter what. I believe that may be the case with Frodo. Good luck with the new food, I know I have been happy with it.
BTW, how many grams does Brandy weigh now? Odo is 454gms, Frodo is 330gms and Marco is 354gms.
