How long to leave a male in with a female

Okay when you Breed hedgehogs how long do you suggest to leave a male in with a Female? And what is the most common way to put a male in with the female in her cage? Or the female in with the male in his cage? Please just answer my question with out asking me when or why I am going to breed weather or not I have Lineage or a pet store hedgie. I want to be prepared and know how to breed so Thank you to all in advance. I was curious on how many people did it differently?

You should always put the female into the male's cage, this is a general rule among most animal species. :)

wow you learn something every day If I were going to breed an animal I would have put the male in with the female why is it that you put the female in with the male. I'm not contridicting and I really know nothing about breeding anything but people lol. I'm just curious

so the female doesn't get territorial

my guess would be that the male is probably always willing to do it ;) and so having the female plopped into his cage is like a dream, but if a female is not in the mood having a male plopped in her space would be frightening/annoying. probably since male hegies are usually dominate if they came into her space and tried to dominate it she would get teritorial....or something anyway one night i hadn't put the cage top on securly and in the morning i found her in his cage so it looks like they do this sort of thing naturally haha
