if you're hedgie had a nice little pigloo or sheltered area that they sleep in, what is the best way to wake them up and pick them up to play with them?

My hedgie has a pigloo, and i just start talking to him then slowly lift off the pigloo, and gently pick him up, he usually tries to half ball until he see thats it is just me and then he is usually fine.

i just slip my hand under her belly. If she balls, i will then use a blankie, but now my hands are getting used to the prickles, so i can just pick her up!

I talk to mine for a few minutes. I wait for her to wake up and look at me. I give her a treat and then pick her up. She does really well with this. The treat works as reinforcement.

Dimming the lights help too. I try to talk to Jake to give him a bit of time to warm up to me.

Odo sometimes sleeps under her hedgie bag under her igloo. I gently lift the igloo and if she is hanging onto something, I can feel the resistance. Just gently lift whatever it is she is under until you see that it is clear of her.
