first how long do hedgehogs live and i just got my hedge friday so she wont let me see if her stomach is warm and when she sits on my lap i move her she left white stuff on my pants what is that ? thanks justin

First of all, congrats on your new hedgie! Hedgehogs live about 4 years when they are well taken care of. I wouldn't worry too much about how warm her tummy is as long as where you are keeping her is warm and out of any drafts. Is she getting up at night and eating/drinking? If she is getting up to eat and explore, she is probably warm enough. As for the "white stuff" what consistancy was it? I really don't have any ideas as to what this could be. You really should take her in to a hedgie experienced vet to get a checkup. You could ask the vet what this "white stuff" is.

mine occasionally will get dry skin and it leaves white flakes on my pants if that is the case some vitamin e oil might help, just put a couple of drops on her back

Is it foamy? If so she could be annointing. When hedgehogs encounter a new smell or taste they chew it up, make a foam and spread it on themselves. It is very weird and nobody is sure why they do it.

Congrats on your new hedgie and I agree about a vet visit, any new hedgie should see a vet. :)

thanks ill find a vet and have them look her over she likes chewing on my shirts but i cant have that im affraid the the axe i put on might hurt her
