At what time in the pregnancy should you give a hedgie nesting material?
Do you just give her it the one time and let her go at it, or do you give it to her often before delivery?
Which is best for a prego mommy.. a blankie or a house??
How thick should the bedding be in the cage??

Thanks everyone..

There is a wealth of knowledge if you read through the Breeding & Babies threads and also look at Hedgehog Valley and HHC. :)

Alicia, I was told that you should clean out her cage 3 days before her 30 day due date, and give her bedding and put her Igloo in. I personally am using a blankie. And for her nesting I will be using carefresh pet bedding. Hope this helps you. :slurp:

Blessing to you and I hope you have a Beautiful day.

I would definitely NOT use carefresh bedding as nesting material for baby hedgehogs, as it is very dusty and can irritate the babies skin. What I would do is give the mother a blanket to make a nest under or in with an igloo. Good Luck!

Other than givinga mommy to be a blankie, what kinda bedding could we use so she could dig in and make a nest? My hegies Love carefresh and like to make nests or there sleeping spots with it. I put pellets in with my hedgies and than I add just a little Carefresh they move it to there spot where they make a little bed for themselves.

I've read tissues make good nesting material. I imagine bits of fleece, paper towels and such would be nice too.

Give them materials, like fleece, paper towel, hay, a blanky is always good. It is really up to you. Good luck!
