Maverick...

Maverick is a very dear Boxer dog friend of mine. He has been with me for nearly 13 years. He and I bonded very quickly the day he came home and it's going to be hard to see him go... Sadly, my family and I have to put him down... he has developed many tumors in his mammory glands and his prostate is failing.

I'll miss you Mavy.

So sorry to hear about Maverick. You and your family are making the right decision however- sometimes the hardest things to do, are the things that need to be done the most. It is never easy to lose a friend...

Thanks, Laura. He's the only dog we've ever owned as a family. I can't believe he lived so long... boxers normally only live for 7 years :) The hardest thing is that he's still spunky...He hasn't changed since the day we brought him home.

Mandi, I'm so sorry. I know how hard that decision is to make -- especially when it involves the dog you've grown up with.

I had no idea that boxers usually only live 7 years. In that respect, Maverick is one lucky dog -- he's had almost two wonderful lives already!

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family and Maverick.

Thanks Erin :) He really HAS had nearly two lives and I am so thankful. I was just talking to my parents and we don't even think his brothers and sisters are still living...and to think that Mavy was the runt hehe.

I wish I could be there for you tomorrow. I know it will be a hard thing to do. I cried and cried when I ahd to put my one cat down that was 10.
So let it all out girl you will feel better.

I can barely breathe I've been crying so hard :( His appointment is at 12:40pm tomorrow... it's going to be a long, hard day.
