When I got my girls in Jan, my friend wanted one too. So she got a male hedgie. She's decided she can't handle him, she's afraid of him and thinks it would be mean to keep him.

le sigh.

She'd met my hedgehog Malachite before, held her, and I had talked to her all about the good and the bad of hedgie ownership. I told her unless she was 100% sure she wanted one not to get one. She assured me she wanted one and could handle one.

Toby (her guy) was very nice when I was hedgiesitting for her. I had no problems with him other then he's super active.

I told her I'll take him and either keep him forever, or find him a really good home. I need to think about this. I really want more hedgehogs in the future, but this is alot sooner then I had anticipated. I know it says in my sig that I want a male after April but that means born after April so wouldn't be ready to come home till Junish.

Either way I'm renaming him Bowser.

Hum...that's a debate. Like you said, it's something you really need to think about so do just that. Maybe spend some time with him? See if you guys bond? That's a tough spot to be in. Let us know what you decide! GOOD LUCK! :)

you're right, I guess I should just try it and see if it works out. I guess I'm just a little sad my friend doesn't want to keep him. He's a real nice guy too! Very pretty face!

I remember the pix of toby that were posted when you got your two girls :) He is a real cutie!

I think what you need to do is think it over really carefully. Will you be able to provide him with everything he needs at this point in time? Do you feel youre ready to take on another hedgie right now? If you answered yes to these questions, then a hedgehog may be the pet for you *Mimics the PetCo CareSheets* LOL

Personally, I hope you decide to keep him- I know youll make an awsome mom to him!

Think about it like this then. Your friend trusts you enough to tell you that it wasn't a good decision for her to get one. Your offer of taking him to either keep or find a good home is very generous. You know your limits, and if you really aren't prepared for one until after April stick to your guns and find Toby/Bowser a good home. Good luck

my friend thinks her Aunt is going to take Toby as she is an animal lover. Which is fine but... this is so stupid... now I'm kinda sad I don't get him.

Haha. You're too funny. Well just remember, as long as Toby is in a good home that is all that matters. Make sure her aunt knows something about hedgies before Toby goes there. Let us know if anything changes! :)
