It's important that your hedgie have an external temp. of 73-75F. Mine prefer it warmer so I keep it at 77F. I have my hedgie room set at 74F and with the help of heating pads under some cages and ceramic space heaters it is reallly cozy!
Watch for cool bellies, lack of wheeling, they don't eat or drink overnight.
I do tummy checks every morning on my whole herd and they hate it! Annabelle made several hibernation attempts a few weeks back and ended up with an URI from it. Hold them to your chest to warm them up faster if you do feel a cool tummy. Annabelle was up and scrambling around after 20 minutes or so. The best action is to get keep him warm so it doesn't happen

Also they can be wobbly when woken up. I agree with Tawana. I keep my room high and use heating pads and a ceramic disk (screws into a light fixture like a light but emits no light). Hope this is helpful! :)

It's very important to get an indoor digital thermometer. I keep one right beside Razzle's cage or on the floor if he's in his playpen. (Remember, the floor can get much cooler since cool air falls and heat rises. If you keep your hedgehog's cage on the floor, put the thermometer down there too so you get an accurate reading). I always make sure the thermometer is 75 degrees or above. If I need to warm up the room, a space heater works great to warm it up fast.

I make fleece baggies for disposable hand-warmers. and buy boxxes of hand-warmers at costco. Oreo loves them because he can move them to get comfy if it's too cold or hot.
