so i'm thinking of switching from a small private school (like the ones i've gone to all my life) to a public school in wilsonville. everyone is trying to tell me how hard it would be th switch (it would be my senior year) but honestly westside (my school) sucks and i wanna leave.i 've wanted to the last 2 and a half years. i have 5 friends there, 2 of them really really close ones. not a lot out of thousands, but i make friends. so basically, is public school as scary as my friends are trying to make it seem? (my friends at westside i mean). and my brother too. has anyone else switched their last year? advice/comments are appreciated, and get a gold star in my book.

I went to private schools all my life (except for kindergarden and grade 1). After I graduated out of grade 12, I realized that I needed grade 12 chemistry in order to take certain courses in university- so off I went to public school.

While I cant say it was horrible, It certainly was ALOT different than I was used to. Kids talked back to teachers, threw things around the room, were horribley loud in the hallways during classes etc etc. I remember one time we had a subsitute teacher who could not control the class whatsoever. Three of the kids ended up having a water fight with those little squirty bottles you use to rinse things in the chem lab. One of the girls was drenched head to toe. The teacher yelled at them, told them to leave the room, threatened to send them to the office, etc- and they just all looked at her and continued on. It was unreal. I know NOTHING would EVER happen like that in the schools that I had gone to previously.

I personally found the class to be alot easier than what I was used to in private school. Im not sure if that was because the course itself was easier, if the standards there were lower, or if because my teacher was just plain awsome- whatever the reason I kicked some butt in that course :)

So, I say go for it! If youre unhappy with your current school, and youve been wanting to do this for a while then you definently should :)
