Remove dead baby???

Mom had 3 babies. Two are alive one dead (still born, malformed). Mom is defensive of the nest box, but there is one dead in the box. Should I disrupt her just long enough to get the dead one out or will she take care of it?????

I would give it a day or two. I would see how the mom is reacting towards it. She should take care of it herself.

The moms will normally remove dead babies from the nest themselves. However, if this doesn't happen, you can try to distract her out of the nest box with a favorite treat and quickly and carefully scoop the dead baby out of the nest, without disturbing the others. I would make this a last resort though, the disturbance could trigger mom to kill the other babies. :(
