I was just wondering, I've been feeding Smoochie ferret food for a long time. She is very friendly and all but she always curls up and hisses WHENEVER I move. I just bought some new food but I haven't given it to her yet. Will certain types of food affect a hedgehog's mood? (heh that rhymes! ;) )

Ferret food should not be fed to a hedgehog. It is very high in fat and hedgies need a low fat diet. This can lead to "fatty liver desease" and obesety.
I am not sure if this is what is effecting his mood but I would defrinitely start switching him over gradually to a better diet.
Do a search in the this section on the good foods to feed your hedgie.
If you need any help finding it, let me know and I will get you some links.:)

I think that food can affect the mood of your hedgie for sure. If they are not getting proper food there will be unnecessary stress on the body...i think there is a good chance you will start to notice a difference when you switch. royal canin slim 38 is a great choice...and you should probably mix with a few other kinds as well.

I agree that poor diet can affect your mood. When you eat a lot of greasy fatty food, you tend to feel blah and run down afterwords. With a healthier meal, you have more energy and just feel better (at least I do)

I would also recommend you switch to a lower fat food. Too many hedgies succomb to fatty liver disease
