sometimes hedgies can be picky - even with foods they previously loved. They are funny like that. And the same goes for playing/wheeling -- sometimes they have "quiet nights". If Scampi is warm enough and otherwise looks ok (check nose/eyes to make sure they are clear) he's probably just trying to drive you crazy (hedgies are good at it!) My Razzle will do this to me on occassion seemingly just to make me worry about him. I make sure his belly is warm, his eyes are clear, nothing runny about his nose, and his poops are normal. If he passes all these tests, I can pretty much assume he's ok and just watch and wait for him to get back to his normal routine. I think they just like to keep us on our toes and make sure we are paying attention!

How is Scampi doing? Has his behavior returned to normal. Behavior changes are a great worry to me, especially when they are followed by refusal to eat their favorite foods. It has been my experience that a behavior change often means that something isn't right. Whether that something is minor like an environmental change, or major like illness.

How is Scampie's weight, and stools? If he is losing weight, or his stools are abnormal or if his behavior continues to be abnormal, I always recommend a vet visit just to rule out something that you can't see. Hedgehogs are EXCELLENT at hiding illness. I recently posted a little story on Hedgehog Central Forums about how good one of mine hid illness recently.
