I am getting my braces off!

2 years and 9 months. I was supposed to have them off in a year and a half, but things went wrong :rolleyes: lol. So I had to have them on longer.

Eek, braces. I've never had them, but I've had a retainer twice. One was an expander/retainer and it was ****. I think I had that one for about a year. Don't remember how long I had the other one.. too long ago. The expander thinger made it feel like that plastic in the middle was digging into the roof of my mouth (which it was) and it made my gums are weird afterwards. It was so unbearably painful when I had to put it on once that I tried to saw off some of the plastic (and it helped a tiny bit, lol) with a knife. But yeah, I was thrilled too when I could get rid of them.

Congrats! Your teeth are gonna feel wierd for a while...so says everyone who had them. I never got them...yet. ah

My braces never bothered me. I had them for a little over a year and I kinda missed them when they were removed. The retainer sucks though. It`s the plastic mold of my teeth and it is uncomfortable and hard to talk with .. so I don`t wear it a lot .. I`m supposed to at night. But the ortho said that as long as it still fits I don`t have to wear it. Woo ..

Usually when you get your braces off you get a gift bag with popcorn, candy, and gum. It`s wonderful. =] Let us know if you get anything, lol. Have fun with your teeth !! =D

I had one of those retainer things... b/c I grind my teeth at night. Well, it was like $200 and I left it sitting out... oops! My dog ended up chewing it up, and my mom was like "I'm not spending $200 on a new one!" (darn ;) ) lol Thanks Daisy! It was hard to talk with though. Although at night, I had fun falling asleep... lol I would put it upsidedown in my mouth and try to flip it over w/o droping it... :rolleyes:
