This is actually my second hedgehog [I'll have to change my signature now].

Now I actually got her from a pet store rather than a breeder like I did Nigel. She was very small, I fell in love with her when I first saw her.

Now, I want to register her, but how do I get an estimate on how old she is? The pet store folk had no clue [they didn't even know what gender she was]. Now, if I go by the breeder that I got Nigel from who just had two litters [that are about 5-6 weeks now] she's perhaps the same size as the smallest, if not a bit smaller. She does eat solid food [in fact that's all she's done since I got her, eat, drink, sleep, and a little bit of wheeling].

How about going with 6 weeks. My first litter weaned themselves by the end of their 3rd week and I left them with mom (except for separations that got longer and longer) until almost 6 weeks. Even now at almost 8 weeks they are still smaller than another breeders 7 week old baby. They actually are closer to the same breeders 2 week old babies. Some are small and some are big. It depends on the litter size, size of mother, first litter or not and you never know what they are fed or when they are pulled when dealing with a pet store. I feed a high quality food mix, gave the babies Eukanuba kitten food mixed with milk plus canned cat food. Mom got the same but it was a first litter. I have a litter of 5 and they are growing like weeds with 2 just being huge compared to the others.
