So I'm guessing Miss Marple is around 6 weeks (when I finally register her, I'm going to give her a Valentine's birthday ^_^) And since she's come home, mostly she's been eating and, well, eating.

She'll sleep for a few hours, get up, eat, poop, eat some more and then sleep and the cycle continues. Though she doesn't tend to poop much when I'm handling her.

So I haven't noticed until tonight that her poops are kind of gummy and surronded by an orangey mucus. I'd like to hope that her food is causign the colouration (most of it is an orangish brown colour), but I'm guessing a visit to the vet would probably be in my best interests.

My question is, I've noticed that her tail is coated in her poop. It's not as bad as when I gave her a bath a few days ago, and tonight when I was handling her, when she balled up, she kept pooping. Is this normal for younger hedgehogs?

What makes you guess 6 weeks? That seems awful young because that is the age that they are usually being weaned.
Baby hedgehogs poop all the time! In the bath, while being held, anywhere on you, when they're out playing, when they're balled up, etc. The orange mucousy stuff could very well be from diet. Is she still on what they fed her at the petstore? A slow transition to better quality foods will help this. A change in their environment (i.e. pet store to new home) will cause funky poos. A fecal check and an exam is always a good thing to do. All new arrivals in my house are quarentined for 30 days and they get a vet visit

Oh, I'm not surprised that she's pooping all the time, I expect that, I was just worried about it coating her tail. Other pets I've had (admittedly, rodents) that was a sign of an illness to watch out for. I tried a slow transition, a little bit of the mix I feed Nigel and a lot of what they were giving her at the pet store (they gave me some in a bag, didn't tell me what it was, looked like rabbit food) and she didn't touch the old stuff and went straight for the new food.

I am keeping her as quarentined as I can (they have to share the same room, but I've got them spaced one opposite ends, and such) Think I'll be ok letting her wait until the 30 days are up before I visit the vet (I'd like to, my schedule gets a little hectic this month)?

And I've guessed 6 weeks because of how small she is compared to a local breeders newest hedgehogs that are 5 weeks. But she is eating on her own, and in another thread on this forum it was suggested 6 weeks. The pet store had no idea (didn't even know her gender, we taught them that one). She could be younger or older for all I really know. She's about 133g now.
