I just got back from vacation. My mom and I missed Chloe so much, we were wondering if next time we could take her along. Has anyone has ever flown with their hedgie before? Does anyone know which airlines would allow this?

Unfortunately, the airport closest to us is quite small and often makes connections in Pennsylvania :| this would probably be a problem, wouldn't it?

Anyone's thoughts, advice, or experience would be appreciated :)

I always take Macy home with me. I pack her up in a critter carrier in a tote with some blankets. Through security, they ask me to take her out, and walk through the metal detector, and they x ray the tote. Other than that, it's no problem.

It's a little different in the US. You have to get your hedgehog a ticket and not all lines will let you take a hedgehog. I would call ahead and ask.

(I read something at hhrescue yahoo group that said a much.)

Kaiteedyd, yea I read the thing on yahoo (I'm also a member). So many of the airlines say no animals in the cabins :( I think we usually use US which on the yahoo list says "US Airways: Will not fly hedgehogs in the cabin." The lady sitting in front of us had her dog, no fair :( Chloe doesn't even bark! It seems to me that she would be less of a problem than a dog (although I admit, the dog was very well behaved). So, if I did happen to find an airline that would allow me to bring a hedgie in the cabin, do you think that having connections in PA would be a problem?

Hmmm....Maybe I need to move to Canada ;)

Thanks Kerrie, that did help :)

Anyone know the average fee I should expect if I were to do this? (that is, not take hedgie in the cabin along with me)
