Maybe you could contact the owner and tell them it is WAY to early for them to be sold. It's worth a try.

I saw this ad as well and was thinking the same thing!!! Perhaps they read a book saying they can be weaned as early as 40 days(though I would never recommend this practice 8 to 10 weeks is best for the little ones:) ), but 4 weeks is still only 28 days! Not very wise on his part....

That's a great idea chinluvr. I would help too if I wasn't so far away. I feel so sorry for those kits. I hope you can help. :) Good luck!

I would just recommend talking to the people and asking them to put the babies back with their mother. You shouldn`t have to spend your time hand-feeding kits every 2 hours because of their lack of knowledge. Maybe point them to this site and explain to them that they have a lot to learn about the chinchillas they are BREEDING. Kinda ridiculous that they don`t even know the sexes of the babies - lemme guess, they thought the parents were both the same sex ?? sigh ..

At 4 weeks, they may not need hand feeding as younger kits because they are eating a lot of pellets and hay. If you are going to get one of the triplets, you might as well get them all so you can feed them at the same times and such. Maybe someone else down in San Diego can help you. I wish I was closer so I can offer help. Still though, my advice is to talk to the people, and maybe offer to help finds homes for them when they are actually old enough to leave their mother.
