If you know what you are getting into, have owned hedgehogs for a while, know the risks, have pedigreed hedgehogs, plan everything out, have someone to help if something goes wrong, are ready for more hedgehogs, have some extra money just in case, etc... Then I say go for it!
If you just get a hedgehog and want to breed for the fun of having animals, or because your friends want a hedgehog, or because, hey, why not? then i say no.
I am not trying to direct this post at anyone-this is my honest opinion no matter who the person is.
Just my .2 cents
I posted this before you put the poll up, but I will answer the poll question too.
I won't vote for any of them. I think the only good reason to breed is to improve the species.

I think that all those things come along with the breeding as well as what everyone else says... you can't sell hedgehogs and not make money....you wouldn't breed if you didn't enjoy it...and I'd love to meet someone that hated baby animals because I don' think they exsist...
Just my two cents

Actually you can breed babies and not make money. One emergency vet visit can whipe out all your earning. Ask Lauren is you want to know details. I would consider breeders who turn a profit lucky.

That was more or less my point. Breeders don't breed to make money. They breed because they love hedgehogs and want to improve the species.

I've read the thing about Lauren and that's unfortunate...but people need to stop saying that there is nothing to gain. Any industry out there wouldn't operate if there wasn't some profit.

I'm not saying that it's wrong to attempt to make money from breeding I'm just saying that it's really naive to assume you're going to. To a point you're correct about the 'industry' not operating if their was no profit it in it. Most breeders though do it as a hobby and the profit they gain isn't monetary, but enjoyment of raising hedgehogs and the love of improving the species.

this post is about people spending 1000 on emergency vet visits, people who want to make a profit know when to draw the line and pull the plug and say good bye

See now this is why we all hate you. It's wrong to breed your hedgehog and then not follow through with your responsiblities when something goes wrong by giving your mom or babies vet care.
Your hedgies did not ask to be bred. If you take it upon yourself to breed them you should be prepared for the consequences.
I will no longer reply to any of your idiotic posts and I encourage everyone else to do the same.
