Tico crossed the Rainbow Bridge sometime early this morning after a short but heroic fight with lymphoma. I woke up at 6 am to give him his morning meds and the first syringe feeding of the day and I found him curled up in his hedgebag.
Tico came to me only a few months ago, but it was still not long enough! I was his fourth and final home over his 4 years and despite all the environmental uproars, he was a sweetheart till the end. He got to see other hedgies (safely separated in playpens of course), scared the bejeezus out of Mooshu when he stuck his paw in your cage to help you finish your dinner, and meet lots of people when you came along to presentations. He endured three medications twice daily, several hand feedings and even SQ fluids towards the end.
I know Tico is in a better place now, eating mealies like nobody's business and wheelin' like the mad man he was. He will be welcomed by all the others who have passed before him. When you meet up with my Doodlebug, play nicely! Boy hedgies get along at the bridge, right?
I miss you already!
