Okay, so I gave her a bath a few minutes ago to help her with her scratching problem and when I was cleaning her belly I noticed some more sores on her front leg. When I got her she had sores on her back two feet right above her toes and the lady told me she didnt know how she could have gotten those as she checks her hedgies regularly and didnt remember seeing those so she just assumed it had gotten into a scuffle with one of the other hedgies before we got there. The sores on her front leg look kinda like they could be bite marks from another hedgehog, they're two tiny red marks. I guess what I want to know is, is there anything I should be doing to help her sores on her legs heal? Or just let them heal on their own? They dont seem to bother her or slow her down but the ones on her back legs(also on her knees) look kinda gross not sure if they are scabbing over or if it is dried blood. Sorry this is so long! :|

She really needs to see a vet. They'll probably want to put her on antibiotics to counteract any kind of infection that could set into the sores. If you ask around the board, someone could probably recommend a good vet in your area.

Hopefully someone will know a good vet in the Duluth, MN area. Do you know what board I should go to?

You can post here...also try the hedgehog welfare society...http://www.hedgehogwelfare.org If you look on the left hand side of their page there is a link that says "Veterinarian Listings"

If you join the HWS you can also get onto their Yahoo group and ask someone there...they are pretty good about getting back to you right away.

You could try putting some neosporin (sp?) on her sores and then a thin coat of vaselene on top of that to keep her from licking the neo. off. If the sores are scabbing, then they are healing. If they remain open and bloody then she needs treatment including antibotics. If it was me I would take her to any vet for this. It dosen't have to be an exotic's vet. Any vet is better than her getting an infection. She may have to be gassed to get a good exam but any vet who will treat small animals (and I don't know of a vet who dosen't) such as guina pigs or bunnys should be able to handle that. If a sore dosen't heal properly then it can become infected and then it can get bad. If it's bad enough that your worried then take her to a vet thats close to you. JMO
