I've noticed something happening more and more on the forums.
It seems people will take any chin, and every chin that crosses their path. They reply to multipule classified ads, post multipule classifieds, and get mulitpule chins from just anyone.
Has anyone else noticed this? I see some not so great breeders who get chins sold and wonder - Don't people research breeders anymore?
What about the people who are 'breeding' yet grab any free and cheap chins they can, and rescues? this makes me wonder what animals are being bred...
PLEASE people becareful of who you sell to. There are a lot of people out there anymore who want any free chin to put into breeding. And also, if you are buying an animal ASK AROUND about the breeder! The chin world is small, and if someone isn't doing what they should(breeding rescues, sickly animals, not taking care of their animals, selling low-end animals for high prices ect) SOMEONE will know, and will be perfectly honest with you!
RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH! Before I sell an animal I check posts on forums. If they are grabbing any and every animal that crosses their path, a red flag is raised. If they aren't very knowledgeable, and are NOT willing to learn, a red flag is raised. If I am buying, and the breeder is questionable- a red flag is raised. BECAREFUL of who is buying ands elling animals!

don't know how old you are megan but you ARE wise beyond your years!
i have noticed that too. when i check potential buyers posts i also look for their not being truthful with me - that is a HUGE red flag too.
i have not yet sold to some i would not sell to again but have almost sold to people that i will now not sell to. but for the grace of God the 'almost' never turned into a sale.
i also have a VERY restrictive sales agreement. the only person i have not make sign one is a large and VERY VERY respectful breeder (just felt insecure about asking her to sign one, plus i was soooooo flatterd that she bought one of my babies :high5: )
my only reservation about what you said is that i am very careful about what i will say to someone about a fellow breeder. there are people i will NEVER buy from (or never buy from again) but i will not put that in writing with some one i don't know and trust - forgive my Latin but it is plain 'annus protectus.'

As for asking about breeders before purchasing, well, that all depends on who that person is whether or not you get the real info about them.
As has happened before, people may be afraid to say anything about the person in question. And on another note, people can & will say things about someone in which they know absolutely nothing about. What may make a 'not so great breeder' to one person, another may have great experiences with. I have gladly shared my personal experiences with alot of people in private & some I wouldn't go into detail other than to say I wouldn't buy from them. I do tend to stay away from those that post to any & every for sale thread & have turned people away after checking into their previous posts. My list of 'who to buy from' is very short due to personal experiences & as well as seeing how some do at shows. As for selling, I have only had 1 in which I wouldn't sell to again.

I always check into local chins :chin1: ....But just because I check into them doesn't mean I'm buying (although,I have gotten more than not...lol) ;) .....I'm owned by 9 chins so far,(and getting 3 more very soon)and I still have no intentions of breeding....
My concerns are with the newbies that pop up and post on all the classifieds....It seems to me that some are to spontanious(sp?) and do post on any & all chins :dunno: ...just to get one...Are they "just as quick" going to decide that they changed their mind and release it to a shelter? I hope people think before they buy.....I know when I get mine that I'm in for a long committment...Hopefully others will too :)

Oh, I won't tell just anyone straight out who to avoid. If I have talked to the people for a while, I will tell them who to avoid and why. Most people who come to me for chins when I don't have any I just give them a list of the breeders who I would personally buy from- and clearly state "These are the breeders I trust, and have bought from with no problems- I highly reccomend these..and just becareful of other breeds as they may not be honest".
Before buying an animal from a new breeder i've never bought from before- I have a list of several breeders I go to and ask them. I trust their opinions, and know they will be totally honest with me.
Right now, I only have a few breeders I will buy from again- as I have been happy with their animals...and a few breeders who I haven't bought from- but would be willing to buy from.
