I have a girl who may be pregnant. I was wondering if it is safe to hold her on her back a lot? It's almost instinctive for me to hold my hedgehogs on their backs when I get them out to play. They will completely stretch out while on their back, and often act like they're walking on air. Sorry if this is a silly question. Could it cause complications?

If the mom seems comfortable in this position, I don't see that it would be a big problem. However, if she seems uncomfortable in any way, I would recommend stopping it quickly. Depending on how large of a litter she is carrying, and how large the babies are, it is possible for this position to put pressure on internal organs that shouldn't be pressed on.

For the most part it could be uncomfortable for the mother to be. How would you like to be held upside when you are expecting? I think we have answered your question. Best of Luck!
