Hello!! I am Brittany, from MI. I have grown up with various animals all my life, and have always wanted a Chinchilla! I am 17, (18 on July 18th) and live with my boyfriend, Joe of two years. He knows how much I'd love a Chinchilla (I talk about it.) and we decided to get one for my Birthday. (Neither of us want Children so we will treat our Chin as ours, we've decided.).
We hope to get our first Chin soon! I've been looking up shelters in our area and we picked out one we really like, and sent in an application two days ago, but haven't heard back yet, so we're worried we may need to find options.
We've been studying Chins for awhile hoping to know what to expect and the best way to properly care for ours, and even have a list of Chin-experienced vets close to us. Now that I've got most of the Chin-relatedness out of the way.. More about Myself, I guess!

um.. I like the Ganguro fashion style, Movies, (lots of) TV, Paranormal Investigating, Making Avatars & Signatures, Art, Fashion, Anime, Music, Drawing, and Reading. I'm half Italian & half Black and people always used ask me if I'm adopted. *Sigh.*

As far as particular things go, My favorites are:

Books: Interview with a Vampire, Angela's Ashes, 'Tis..
Manga: Sailor Moon, Chobits.
TV: ER, Law & Order:SVU, Desperate Ho-wives, Star Trek, Star Wars: Clone Wars.
Anime: Sailor Moon (Uncut, Japanese), Get Backers, Peach Girl, Samurai Champloo.
Movies: Assault on Precinct 13,Monsters Inc, Star Wars (all), Legally Blonde, Scarecrows Gone Wild, Freddy VS Jason.
Food & Drink: Speghetti, Ribs, Chocolate Milkshakes, Cherry Coke, Sunkist.
Musicians & Singers: Jack off Jill, Alisa Durbrow, John Mayer, Eminem, Cyndi Lauper, Fiona Apple, The Juliana Theory, Aqua.. and Jay-Z.

I hope that wasn't all too much.. I'm really, really, really bad at introductions.. if you have anything you'd like to know that wasn't thrown up there, just ask!

For Starts.. Welcome to CnQ!

You've found the right place for getting information on Chinchillas and their care, needs, etc.

Also The boards have a great Rescue section and alot of people have breeders that they retire and sell for reasonable prices if you're looking for a nice pet. I'm sure they're are a number of people here too that can direct you to someone who has rescues ready to home. :)

Good Luck, Enjoy the Boards, and Again.. Welcome :)
