My Pepper has passed about a month ago, but, I am sure he guided me to this sight.
Pepper was in a secured dog kennel, roaming in it outside, and he was enjoying it. Well, we didn't want him to come inside because he was enjoying himself so much!-So we left for about a half hour. When we got back, Pepper's cage had been opened, and Pepper was no longer there. We put food and water along with alfalfa in this cage, and did not move it. The next day I looked and the food was all gone and the water was half gone. Well, of coarse I re-filled everything and this went on for eight days. My dog Jesse and I searched every night for him too, when he would be out and moving.
On the eighth day of his missing, my dad came home to find him dead on the road, right in front of our house. We have figured that our neighbor (who is a trouble maker) came over and let Pepper loose. Unfortunately, we cannot prove this.
We have now come to the conclusion that Jesse and Sammy, will never be allowed outside, unsupervised, and our next Hedgie.
R.I.P. Pepper, have fun with all the other little hedgies!
