OMG!!! I am so heartbroken....My baby,My first chinnie I ever had...This is what happened....Last night,my daughter just woke me up (20 minutes before I had to go into work,so you know I was a mess) and told me Sampson was dead...I run downstairs, hoping it was a cruel joke, needless to say,it wasn't...I just got back from vet,and basically he said that it was from ingesting something he shouldn't have....I looked all over the room,(there is basically nothing in there but cages...)and couldn't find nothing...Eventually I moved my big cage that I built(melamine) and on the bottom in the back were a whole lot of chew marks...I removed my other chin out of that cage and I'm taking it outside and bashing it to pieces with my husbands sledge hammer...Maybe that will help...

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Might I say, before you tear your beautiful cage apart, it may very well not have been that at all. Without the vet doing a necropsy on your little guy, there's no way to know for sure. As for ingesting the melamine, I have some chins here who actually managed to tear through a Chinbin cage at the front in the bottom and are absolutely no worse for wear after the fact. No, it's definitely not something I would recommend, nor is it something they "should" have been able to get at, but it did happen and they are fine.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers,....lol...I'm not REALLY going to destroy it,but I don't think I can use it any longer...It's the only possible explanation that I can think of...I was going to get the necropsy done but the secretary at the vets said that I wouldn't get his body back.I wanted him in my yard....My kids were all into "the funeral"....It was a sad day today...I'll be okay,I'm thinking of getting a tatoo of him on my shoulder which is a big step since I'm like TOTALLY afraid of needles...I just don't have too many "perfect" poses of Sampson....Anyone have any nicely posed white Mosaic chinnie pics(drawings)?
