Hello there everyone! I'm happy to of found this group!!!

As the title states, I am in Indiana County, PA, HI to everyone and to all the other PAians out there!!! Anyhow, my names Niki, and right now I have 2 chinchillas. 1 Grim (Grimlin) that I bought off of a private petstore who gets them directly from a small scale breeder. Grim was sold to me as a standard grey, although I am not too certain if that's his true color. He's a bit darker, and doesn't have the black tipped guardhairs like my girl or like other standards i've seen. He's just like this over all darker color. Anyhow! Grim is about 8 months old now.
Then theres Smigen, she's a year old, and I just adopted her almost a week ago from a girl near Gettysburgh. Smigen is deffinatly a standard grey. I was told she was very handled, but :dunno: , she's pretty skiddish. I'm fine with that, I just don't like the fact that every time I come into their room, I freak her out, and Grimmerz gets upset at me for scaring her.
I have my chinnies in my sparebedroom so they get their muchneeded sleep throughout the day. I have two large MY First Homes cages. I am going to connect these two cages together soon to make one large one, and then I'm also considering putting add-ons on the top of Grims original cage to make it even bigger/taller. I have Grim and Smigen together in Grims cage, I'd like to breed them...they really enjoy eachothers company. I've read up on owning and breeding chinchillas for over a year now. Another friend of mine who also lives in PA owns 3 and I chat to her all the time about hers. She's also hoping to breed her beiges, but hasn't had any signs/luck in months. If I were to have this same un-luck that's fine...I just really enjoy chinchillas, they've got the most cutest faces...and they're just all around wonderful animals.

I saw someone else on here posting their animal artwork, I should post mine sometime! I don't sale mine though, I just draw for fun... :)
Anyhow, this group seems like a great place to talk chins and other pets!

I also own 6 rats: Howard: Siamese/Dumbo/Rex- male, Angel (Howards daughter): Siamese/Dumbo/Velveteen Rex, Lucky (Howards Son): Blue Broken Standard, Daisy: Mismarked Hooded female, Angelo: Agouti standard, and Rose: a beautiful PEW girl.

Then theres my kitten Ozzy who is a black longhaired domestic
And Lea my beagle/pitty mix pup

Thanks everyone for this great group!
Niki

Welcome to the boards. Perhaps posting a picture of Grim on the boards will get you some imput on his true color. Would be neat to find out you got something more than just a standard but don't get me wrong standards are awesome. :)

Welcome and Enjoy!

Thanks all! Sure I'll post piccies of Grimz and of Smigen!!! You guys can tell me what you think. Although, I notice that the pictures sometimes show him as too dark or too light. Any ideas on picture taking to bring out his true color for you all to see? I'll deffinatly have to have atleast one of him beside Smigen as a comparision.
Thanks and I deffinatly will be lurking more on the breeding section! I already have some today!!! :)
Thanks again,
Niki
