Isabell passed away last night.
Two days ago I noticed she was bleeding. It was a light bleeding so I assumed heat or Miscarrage and gave her through last night to get better. Yesterday morning she was still not getting better and wasn't really active. I called around some places to find out about payment plans for her needed vet care. [We've maxed out our vet care card on a surgery for Nick's cat.] No place was willing to except her for payments since I'd then be a 'new client'.
I broke down and called my equine vet and asked what antibiotics were recommended and compatable for her. He looked it up, talked to his other vet and called me back. I vet my own horses so I have IVs and Antibiotics here for using.
I started her on IVs yesterday and ran her on antibiotics for an infection. But the evening she was on her side and wasn't moving. Just light breathing. I made the choice to give her a stronger dose of pain killers and one more dose of meds and left her with Elvis. She wasn't going to make it and I wanted Elvis there to comfort her. I got up in the early hours of the morning and she had passed on, Elvis still sitting at her side. We removed her from the cage this a.m. and Elvis seems to be alright.
I think its better he was with her, rather than me taking her and him thinking she was just taken away. He knows she passed on. This is a pet owner is a decision I made - to leave her with him - in the interest in both parties. Isabell dislike human attention and loved her man. He loved her in return.
I miss her, and won't ever forget her. She was great company for my rescue -Elvis- and a gorgeous piggy who's life didn't start out so grand and clearly didn't finish out to grand. She is in a better place now. I'm happy for her.
