All in all, pretty decent. The only major complaints I have is the hedgehog food and the solid or MESH wheel. Oh, and hedgehogs love to jump? None of MINE do, but... *shrug* Does this mean that Petco is carrying hedgehogs now?

Wow, it really isn't that bad! The food part is pretty misleading though. I don't think them saying that hedgehogs love to jump will cause any problems. Also, it says that best type of cage is an aquarium. While aquariums aren't bad, they should have mentioned C&C cages and Storage Bin cages. :\
I really hope Petco doesn't start carrying hedgehogs...

Personally, I didn't agree with the Aquarium, Mesh wheel, or Hedgehog food suggestions.
No, I don't think that Petco is carrying hedgies now, at least the one by me dosen't. But in looking for litter tray suggestions, I came upon this care sheet.
Out of four hogs, I have one that will jump. Frodo will jump like a little frog and must be held securely. The first time she jumped out of my arms, she landed on the couch ( a leap of about 1.5 feet) and landed in a curled ball. I almost died! lol
After a close examination, I decided she was ok, but it scared me to death. I had no idea at that time that a hedgehog could do that.
She has attempted to jump several times since then but I always keep a good hold on her now. :)

Haha, jumping hedgehogs. I think it's strange that they have a hedgehog care sheet if they don't plan on carrying hedgehogs in the near future.

Also, the sources (at bottom of 2nd page) are questionable, the only one that I have seen reccomended is Dawn Wrobels book.

I do however, like the little checklist they made at the beginning of the care sheet and also the common health issues and red flags section.

perhaps chins & quills should come up with it's own printable care sheet to make available to new/prospective hedgehog owners? we are making something up to give to the people who adopt our newlets.

I think the idea of chins & quills making up a care and fact sheet on hedgehogs is a wonderful idea. I have learned a lot from the members on this forum.
In March of this year one of the clerks at the Petco near us told Mike and I that they were planning on selling hegdehogs; so far we have not seen any.

I have a very good friend who works at Petco, and she said that some Petco's are going to sell hedgehogs, but most won't.
I also think it would be a great idea for C-n-Q to make a fact sheet. It would be quite an undertaking though, to make sure everyone agreed, everyone had a say, etc...

yeah, i thought a bit more about that comment... there seems to be alot of debate on this forum in various areas of care, so it would have to be written in a way that makes "recommendations" instead of stating "hard and fast rules"... but that may just cause confusion for a new owner. for me, the benefit of a community like this is that it provides alot of information and discussion and allows me to make my own "informed decision" given an appropriate amount of research... it maybe be hard to convey that in a short and helpful document. if anyone has ideas on how to get around those issues, i would be willing to work on a project like that. it would be some good learning for me anyways :)
