Hi, I'm Miriam. I brought home my first hedgie on Thursday. It's not that she's my first experience with hedgehogs, just that's she's the first one I can call mine. My roommates in college had a couple. And I also worked with a few of them that came into the animal shelter where I volunteered in Boston. They actually called me the Hedgehog Whisperer because I was the only one who was brave enough to let this hedgie take his time to uncurl (after which he was an absolute sweetheart). I even went to a hedgehog show in Niagara Falls NY before owning my own hedgehog. This very nice lady (whom I forget the name of) let me handle one of her boys in the show.
Anyways, on to my little lady. She's a Harmor Hollow cinnacot, about 3 months old. And by the way, I was very impressed by her breeder Kelly. She's incredibly sweet, except when my roommate's dogs are outside the door. In those instances she's obviously protective of herself. In an effort to get her to realise that the dogs will not hurt her (as they are not allowed in the room), I rubbed a toy all over the dogs and left it in her cage, so she gets used to their smell.
Anyways, this is a long intro. I also live in Wakefield, Massachusetts.
