Well, Hedgewood had her surgery on Friday. Everything went fairly well. The vet did mention that they had to close her up quickly as her vitals were dropping, which kind of concerned me, but she pulled through and is now home. We have to go back in three weeks to have her stitches removed as well as some blood work and a check up.
Saturday night she stayed the night at the vet hospital and was administered pain medication. During the night she ran around trashed her cage, ate, drank and deficated normally.
Upon picking her up yesterday, the vet advised that he would not be sending her home with any medication for pain????? He stated that this is actually a rather painless operation??????? So last night she ate, drank and deficated but did not trash her cage......did not seem as active. Is this normal or should I be concerned, the vet said to watch for an abonormal decrease in activity. She did just have surgery, so you would think that there would be some decrease, right?????????
She is allowed to have her wheel back tonight, which seems kinda soon to me, but the vet said that exercise will help her to heal. Anyway she seems to be doing alright.......sleeping alot. Another thing I noticed is that when I wake her up she moves very quickly.........alot faster that before surgery.........do you think this is a sign that she is in pain???
Thank you all for you words of advise and encouragement. We appreciate it.
