Some go through a quilling at about a year old. I've never heard of them doing it at 2. Is he loosing quills and can you see new ones growing in.

Has this been recent? I wonder if it is the hot weather. Have you tried giving him a bath and see if that helps?

What about your laundry detergent? Have you used something different?

Think of anything you have changed recently that might affect him. :)

How much is he itching? Is it often, or just when he gets up or after he's been held? My guys will always shake and scratch to fix up their quills after I hold them, or right after they wake up at night.

Does he always scratch the same place, like he could have a particular area thats bothering him?

Like Nancy said, it could be an allergic reaction to the detergent. Try switching to a sensitive version for when you wash his liners to see if that helps.

It could be the soap i will have to try and switch his..... he always scraches it just looked like he was itchy more then normal. He does loose quills but not a bunch at a time.... the other nigh he had 2 quills in his pen. I gave him a bath the other night with aveno baby bath with oatmeal and then i put some vitamine E on his back.

P.S. Nancy the nipple cream is working... it was a build up on his ears. Poor little guy. He was like that when we got him so i though it was normal till i saw others.

My Peaches likes to scratch herself and every so often I think she is scratching more than usual. She's been to the vet twice for mite checks when I've gotten paranoid about it.

They all loose quills regularly. Some just more than others and I've had a few of mine loosing more than normal with this hot weather... as if they know it's 93F in the shade outside as they lounge in their air conditioned 78F room.

I'm glad his ears are clearing up. Nipple cream works wonders. Does he annoint over it? :)
