One of the male hoglets from Snuggle's litter has a sore on his front leg. It has a scab on it and seems to be clean, he moves around on it just fine but I was wondering if there is something I could or should do for him. He also appears to have an infected quill on his head. It's a little puffy around it and it's scabbed as well. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

I hope he's okay.... could it have been from a hoglet pile-up?

He's the largest in the litter, I don't know if mom gave him a nip or not...

looks like ti should be alright, Marigold had a similar sore on her leg a while ago but I htink hers was from trying to wheel at the same time as Keyaira..I kept cleaning it, and put some neosporin on it, and it cleared up really nicely..good luck:)

How old is he? Neosporin would be good for an adult hedgie, but the mother may not like the smell of it and try to get it off by biting. I'd look at it again tonight and see if there is any improvement.
Is it a red scab (blood), or just some dry, flaky skin?
Try using a warm compress if it is just flaky skin. Nancy suggested doing this a few nights ago with one of my guys had klaky skin. It worked well, and there was not bad smell from creams or medicine.
If it's bloody, it could be from many things. The mom nipping of a a stab from a quill. I don't know what to suggest. It will probably go away on it's own. Just keep half an eye on it.

It's a wound from something, but he is the largest hog so he's not failing or having problems with it. He gets around quite well. It's healing although there is some swelling of the paw and leg. He's a little over 2 weeks old, so I wasn't going to put anything smelly on it. Also Snuggles seems to have kept it clean, all my mommies so far keep the nests very tidy and do their business far from it so I'm not too worried about it getting too infected. I'll just keep an eye on him, and thanks for the advice.
