What does everyone think of this cage? It is a a little spendy at $89, but wonder if anyone has something better?

The cage itself looks fine but the upper level area would useless for a hedgehog. They need long shallow angled ramps and side on second levels to prevent them falling off.
The hide place is fine but above it would not get used. :)

If you made a ramp and put sides on the upper level, it would be really good, pretty much like teasels mom said. But it is a nice cage and the size is good.
I don't think the hay thing would get used much either...you would have to take it out. I wouldn't spend $89 on a cage unless it came the way I wanted it or if I built it the way I wanted it myself.
Take a look at these....they're for guinea pigs, but hedgies basically need the same thing (except that a hedgie will escape sometimes where a piggie could not!)

I would also consider using a large sterillite with liners and hedgebags and a pigloo or hidey house....and anything else I wanted in there. It's much cheaper. :)

okay, i just tried to edit, but it's been 10mins,so i cant...i don't think that I would use the cavy cages just because hedgies can climb and fall....but you can get some great ideas there if you decide to build.
I would use a sterillite because it's as good as anything really, but for a much smaller price =D

I went with a cage based on the cavycages website....but because I already had the grids because my bunny cage is built using the grids, and I had left over coroplast. I built up the base enough that Jyra can't climb the side of the cage. So depending on what you prefer, it is possible to do a C&C cage safely.
However, if I hadn't had the grids, and I had the necessary tools, I would have done one of the bins/tubs....it's much more convenient to move around. Although, I do think it would be harder to clean.
