New Baby!!

I will be getting a new baby in a couple weeks. He will be almost exactly 6 weeks old when I get him. I need to know if I need to give him some soft food and wean him to harder food or just crunch up the harder stuff? I have heard alot of people say that hedgies that young do not have strong enough teeth to eat regular hard food. :dunno:

Make sure you get a sample of his old food from the breeder. Sometimes they will have already transitioned them from moistened food to the harder kibbles. At 6 weeks of age, I would not personally feed them canned food. Joist add some warm water to their current kibble to soften it. When I got my new babies, I gave them a dish of hard food and a dish of moistened food. They went right for the hard food!

At 6 weeks, some can crunch the hard full sized kibble, some can't. I do the same as Tawana. Break it up and offer 2 dishes, dry and moistened. He will go for the dry when he is ready. Then offer dry in both full sized and broken until he is eating the full sized. :)

Good Advise. I don't know why I didn't think of that myself. I can't tell you how many litters of puppies I have raised. Thanks guys!!!
