Is applesauce too sugary for hedgehogs?? I fed it to Pringle and Scoops likes it, but I wanted to check with you guys.

I usually use the no sugar added kind. I'm not sure if regular is too much sugar or not ? Anyone else ?

I use the babyfood applesauce because there are no additional sugars added. I usually offer it during playtime at the dispensing rate of 1 tsp. per hedgie. Mine really like baby pears :)

Babyfood jarred food is just such a lovely way to give treats to our little ones. BTW if you only have one hedgehog to prevent waste I dollup food into serving size portions onto parchment paper, freeze, remove from paper and place into freezer bag. I then take the food out the morning I want to give it to the hedgehog. Less waste and it works rather well (I've used this for sick hedgehogs that required soft food only diets).
And if you like to fix things yourself... make applesauce from scratch. I've had a few hedgehogs that wouldn't eat the baby food stuff but would eat freshly made applesauce. :)

Cool ideas! I do love using babyfood as treat food because it's so easy and I can try a variety of things. I love the idea to freeze the serving size portions.

Great idea Kalandra! I always ended up throwing away most of the baby food since they are only good for 3-4 days after opening. I haven't fed my girl any baby food in a while because of that and the fact that she hasn't taken to any that I've given her except for chicken sticks.

does anyone else's hedgie annoint from the smell of babyfood? Scoops annointed from the chicken and vegetables and beef and carrots.

Our girl has never annointed from food, only our hair.
