Anybody else have a hog that's awake a lot in the day?

In the last couple of weeks my little hedgie has started being very active more and more during the day. She runs on her wheel at night, but is often still up when I get up in the morning and will play out in the open until 8-9am even though it's fully light by then. In the evenings she's been out and about by 5ish - really unusual for her. She seems healthy and is using the extra time to run around with a tube on her head and act silly so it seems like she's feeling OK...

I had a male go through a phase like that. I lived in a sorority house last year so people tended to be up late studying and making noise, but gone at class during the day. I think he just liked the being out when the room was quiet and no one was there to watch him. He's perfectly healthy although now that I have an apartment and they have their own room he seems much more on schedule with all my other hedgies.

My hedgies go through phases like that sometimes. I know when Murdoc first got his wheel he would be up till 9 am- sometimes even 10am wheeling. All three of the boys will get up at various points thoughout the day to have a snack or a drink.

As long as yours is eating, drinking, pooping and otherwise acting normally I bet everything is just fine :)

I have a couple of them that get up during the day if I go in the room. Personally I think they want more attention and daytime plays are one way to get undivided attention without everyone else being up. Of course a daytime snack of mealies is always nice too.

Thanks for the replies. I'm not really worried about her, it's just such a big change in behavior I was wondering. It's fun to see here during the day because she's shy at night, but it's also surprizes me when I hear her eating or playing during the day because I'm used to her house being quiet when it's light out.
