I was away all summer so I got my mom to care for my hedgehog. She did an awesome job. But when I got back his ears were really jagged. They used to get like that all the time, but not this bad, because I would always put cream on them before they got this bad. He doesn't seem bothered by it. I put some cream on them today to see if it clears up a bit, but I was wondering what suggestions you guys might have to help cure his cracked, jagged ears? How often should I put cream on? What kind of cream should I use? I'm pretty sure its not fungus because he's itchy all over too. I'm treating his dry skin like I normally do. I'm also sure it's not mites.

I think it is applied as needed, but I would air on the side of caution. I've used udderly smooth on Bandit's ears and that doesn't seem to bother him. I usually do it after one of his baths when I get a chance to really examine him, so that would be probably every two weeks or so. If I notice his ears looking dry inbetween baths I apply a very small amount and monitor them.

I bought Udderly Smooth at Walmart for my hedgies dry ears etc. It is actually udder cream for cows. Another one to look for is Bag Balm (or something like that). You should be able to find both at Walmart.
