Well as you all know the last few months have not been good, Hedgewood was very sick and underwent a spay after tumors were detected in her uterus. She seemed to recover from the surgery, but was not as active. She continued to have blood in her stool and was on TMS and Baytril. Test upon test were done and we could not determine the cause. The bleeding finally stopped, and Hedgewood seemed to be getting better, as she was still eating well and began to exercise again. The only downside was that she went from being the cleanest Hedgehog ever, to sleeping in her urine and feces. She would continually go to the bathroom in her igloo and sleep in it. The vet felt that it was behavioral??????????? Once again Hedgewood was not exercising, but was still eating and drinking. Upon reading on the forum, I determined that I would take it upon myself to get her on Acidiphilous to she if this would help at all. Saturday morning I found that she had passed during the night. Although this is extremely hard for me to deal with, I am glad that she is no longer suffering. I miss her so much and am very greatful for the joy she brought to my life during the short time I had her (1.8yrs). I just thought I would update you all.

I am so very sorry for your loss. :cry3:
It's so sad to hear when a member of the family dies. I wish there was something we could do to ease your pain.

I am so sorry about Hedgewood. I had been praying that her spay would cure her problems. :cry3:
I don't agree with your vet that her doing her business in her igloo and bedding was behavioural. Any of mine that have started doing their business in their bed, did it because they were sick. When Kes had the intestinal infection she pooped in her bed, on me, just anywhere and I am certain it was because she simply could not hold it in.
Hedgie hugs from all of us.

I am so sorry about your baby, Hedgewood. Pringle also went to the bathroom in his house when he was extremely sick. It is definatelty not behaviorial. I am praying for you and Hedgewood knows how much you loved her.
