Well as some of you may or may not know Marigold is pregnant, and she is due anyday now.I am very excited, and cannot wait for the babies.:D

BUT..I have a little dilema on my hands....Marigold is currently housed in my Sister in law's bedroom, and she goes back to school tomorrow, I'm afraid the babies and their squeeks are going to bother her while she is trying to sleep.. and she keeps insisting that I take Marigold out of her room before the babies come...

My questions are...how loud are the babies? do you think their squeeks and noises will bother her? can I move her to a new room of the house without upsetting her? I really don't know what to do and any advice at all would be greatly appreciated:) thanks in advance

I just wanted to add pictures of the mother to be..most of you here have seen the normal size of Marigold ..so I thought people might be interested in how big she has gotten, she has gained a little over 100gms:) and is doing very well, she is eating alot more and drinking a bit more also. Although her personality hasn't changed much at all, she is still a huge suck, the only difference I noticed is when I go into her cage she actually raises her quills a bit until she relizes it's me, which she has never done before becoming pregnant.

Well here is the pregnant Marigold:

Oh an incase anyone is wondering she was mated with Kaze, so he is going to be a daddy:)!!

Penny~
I would think moving her at this point is going to stress her out big time and that could lead to a lot of things. I'm not a breeder but I think a stable and consistant environment is important for a successful pregnancy.I can't imagine baby hedgies making so much noise that it would keep someone up at night.

Bridget's babies rarely squeaked. They only made noise if they were hungry or uncomfortable. Depending on if Marigold tends to them relentlessly, they may or may not be quiet. I don't have much experience with breeding, so don't just use my opinion.

The one litter I have right now is very quiet. I think they squeek when they get cold. Mine are in a nice cozy nest box, and mom is always in with them, except all the many times she leaves to eat. Boy do they eat a lot when they are pregnant and nursing! I think Penny makes less noise now than usual, as she doesn't have her wheel at the moment.

I can't see how if you move the cage with as little movement to the actual cage it should bother her too much, as long as you do it before the babies come, and as she's as relaxed with you as she is, it may not phase her at all.

First I just want to say Thank you for all your advice:) I appreciate it very much.

Well Marigold has no babies yet, and My sister in law was very insistant that she be taken out of her bedroom, I thought about it, and was told by a friend who breeds that she has even moved the cage the day the babies were born and everything turned out alright and since Marigold isn't easily bothered I decided to move her cage anyways, as to not cause any problems in the Family...so her cage has been moved to another bedroom, she was taken out for playtime like every night and cleaned then, moved her cage while she was out, made sure everything was in the same spots as usual and put her back in after playtime, I'm not sure she even relized she was in a new bedroom...I think this was the best choice in this situation, and I hope it doesn't affect her to much, and all goes well with the birth of the babies:D. Thanks again!!

I would have moved the sister in law, not Marigold. At 34 days she could deliver anytime and it is best to just totally leave her alone. Certainly some would not be bothered in the least by a move but others will freak out over the slightest thing, different smells, different noises, different routine, anything can set them off. Sometimes the calmest hedgehog can freak out the most and sometimes a normally touchy girl will be the calmest. Marigold being a first time mom, you just don't know. I can guarantee with her sense of smell and hearing she knows she is in a different place and hopefully she won't have a problem with it.

Best of luck and even if something does happen the babies you will never know for certain the move was what caused it. :)
