View Full Version : Need Opinions
its been 55 days since the first day my female was in with the male and 49 days since the last day she was with him. and i put her back with him 3 days later for 3 more days. she showed lots of signs that she was pregnant: urine was A LOT stronger, made nests, would only come out when nobody was around and when i came in the room she ran into her igloo, ate more, drank more, etc. but she hasn't had the babies yet. and her breathing has become heavier lately. any thoughts?? anyone have any suggestions?? everything would help.

Hmm that's a tough call, I know that they can go 55 days from the last day they were with the males but I don't know how common it is. Is this her first litter? Also has she had any changes in weight? She could have had the litter and cannablized them but if she's still acting pregnant then I would monitor her a little while longer. I had a female I could have sworn up and down was preggers and she went 60 some days before I rebred her. Good luck and keep us updated :)

yeah, I would wait at least 10 more days, since you said you put her with the male again 3 days later. The first time may not have taken. I would go by the second time they were together if she's still showing signs. Hope there's good news soon! :)

Personally I have only ever had one female go far beyond the normal gestation and that was years ago. If you are at day 55, I would NOT recommend waiting another 10 days! Have you ever heard of uterine rupture? You will loose a female to that! If she goes too long without delivering, the babies will get too big, she will be unable to deliver them naturally, if you don't get a c-section done, her uterus will rupture, and then you are left with a very dead mommy. Personally, I recommend getting her in, get her x-rayed, find out for sure if she is pregnant. If she is, maybe they can induce her, or they may have to do a c-section.
Good luck to you!

Good advise. I'd much rather have a healthy momma. It's too risky not to take her in. At least let the vet "feel" her if nothing else. If she's that far along he/she would definately be able to tell if there's babies in there.
