Making an apple pie (using a premade crust) and would like to know what everyone uses for the filling (besides apples)! Thanks guys!

I just made some fruit cobbler-ish things today !! For apple pies I just put some brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour ( so it doesn`t get too mushy ). I don`t know the exact amount. You`ll want a good amount so that it`s coated and still sits in the sauce.

I usually use the basic recipe with brown sugar
8 cups peeled, cored, and sliced apples
1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
2 tablespoons cold unsalted butter

I can't remember the rest ... lol .... a good tip to remember for the crust is to place foil around the edges up until 15 minutes prior to being done, this helps prevent the crust from burning ;)

My mouth is watering... I usually throw in nutmeg and cinnamon, along with the sugar and flour... topping it off with dabs of butter... pretty much the same as DS Chinchillas.... good luck. (my recipe is straight from Betty Crocker's cookbook)

If you can find a copy of the Joy of Cooking, it has the *best* apple pie recipe ever! (I'm not at home, and don't have internet access at home right now due to recent move, so I can't type it up right now)

Haley- Once you've made your pie, send a slice to me. For quality control of course ;)

 You're a nut!

The pie turned out ok, but the biggest problem was it wasn't big enough and I had to share. :p

:P I am the world's worst cook. I would have went to Baker's Square and tried passing that off as my own ;)
