So I've spent the last hour on here looking for how much hedgies typically weigh.... no luck! (course I just noticed the hedgie FAQ's!! I'm blind sometimes!! :dunno: )
Anywho.....
What's some of your hedgie weights? How fast should they grow?
My hedgie is a little over two months old and he weighs about 200 grams...is this normal? He got big FAST!!!!
Thanks everyone!

There really is no normal weight. My smallest adults are in the 260g range, my largest was 875g. I had a litter of 6 that at six weeks weighed almost 300g yet one of our boys that we got at 6 weeks was 75g.
Your little one is certainly in the "normal" range for that age. :)

I would tend to judge the health of a hedgehog by it's activity levels and daily routine. Is he eating? wheeling? active? lethargic? is he pooping? urinating? do you feel any lumps or bumps? is he losing a drastic amount of weight?
Your hedgie is still a baby and should be growing and gaining weight as part of his development.
Like Nancy said, they come in all different shapes and sizes. I weigh and log weights weekly so I can see what is the normal range for my quill kids.
This were last weeks weights for my hedgies:
Annabelle- 1.5 yrs, S/F 736 g
Atticus- 1 yr, M 364 g
Oliver- 1 yr, M 300 g
Madelaine- 8 mos, S/F 356 g
Juliet- 8 mos, S/F 346 g
Harriet- 2 yrs , F 570 g
Scarlet age unknown adult, F 352 g

Wow, that is a big variation in weight! Was just wondering since it seems he got big so fast! He's still sleeping a lot but runs around like a crazy critter when I put him in the pool at night. Wheels a lot, eats fine, and poops, on his wheel of course!

as long as he is not over weight and lazy I wouldnt wory too much about him just make sure he is on a good diet and has plenty of exercise and you should have a healthy hedgie and a clean cage.
