Doesn't it REALLY p**s you off when people who can't afford to feed the animals they already have keep getting more?I'm going through a whole lotta B.S. b/c there is this one woman(we will call her Miss Smith),who, when I had listed several animals that needed re-homed(within the past 6 months),she had responded to every single one.I knew that I wouldnt adopt any out to her.Okay,so here is what is going on now. There was a woman who has a chin with mallcussion, who wanted to find a responsible home, where it would be taken care of...I sent her an e-mail,b/c I knew I would take Trinity(chin) to the vets & get filed....The woman said there was one person who was getting her at 6:00 on Thurs. and if that didn't happen, she would call me.She called to tell me that Trin & her baby(a possible carrier) were taken by a lady in Vandergrift.(My heart sunk,b/c I knew that was where the one lady was from).I asked her her name.It was "Ms. Smith".I explained to her why I wouldn't adopt out to her,and told her to keep me posted on any info.Now,"Ms. Smith" is on my freecycle group, and sometimes people will place kittens etc.. on there....I've seen her place replies to almost all..After I knew that she "adopted" Trinity, I saw a wanted post for a cage for a "rescue" chin that she was getting.I sent a polite but firm reply (to the whole group) asking if she adopted or rescued Trinity and mentioned the mallcussion just in case she tried to re-home,everyone would know it wasn't healthy.I was on craigslist yesterday, and I saw a post on there for 2 female chins,no mention of the mallcussion, and she was asking $100..(she paid $50 4 days ago)Also,I forgot to mention, yesterday,a woman came to pick up a puppy that I was rehoming, the woman that came said she was late b/c she was trying to find a house in Vandergrift about a different puppy for her mom.She said the woman giving the puppy away had to do so b/c she couldn't afford to feed herself, let alone the animals.I asked if it was "Ms. Smith",it was...The lady who owned Trinity e-mailed me after I sent her the craigslist ad,and she's trying to get Trinity back and give her to me.She isn't getting any reply from "Ms. Smith".....Sorry for the long post....I soooo needed to vent!!!!! :dunno:

We had a breeder that was doing that with chins in Maryland last year. I think she is still around but I dont know if she is still rehoming rescues as breedable pedigreed chins anymore. There was a long thread about this maryland breeder on another forum. It is people like the one you are dealing with , the one i delt with and I am sure many others that make me very cautious who i sell to and who i buy from!

That's so sad to think that some of these people think their animals are going to a good home, and she cant even afford to take care fo them! How irresponsible!!!

It not only ticks me off that this person has those chins, but it ticks me off that the person sold them to her in the first place. This sounds strangely like a thread that is going on over at the chinchilla club forum where instead of taking care of business, the person was going to unload the chins with malocclusion so she didn't have to mess with them.

That's okay though, because she got another female to take her place so all is well. *rolls eyes*

malocclusion? as in missaligned teeth?

Malocclusion as in roots of the teeth can grow up into the nasal cavities and puncture the eyeballs or brain, depending on which direction they grow. There are varying degrees of malocclusion, some mild, some severe, most all very painful. Do a search on here for malocclusion, there's tons of information.

Okay,I still have no update on wether or not the original owners' boyfriend called or not,but in her defence,"Ms. Smith" seems to be a really nice person,I almost let her take a rabbit a few months ago(until I saw her post on every other animal )...It would have been hard to tell about her b/c the old owner is not on the same group as me & "Ms.Smith.She had a post on Petfinder. As for her chins condition, she had taken it to a vet who diagnosed w/ mallocclusion on BOTTOM teeth,so she took her to another vet for 2nd opinion. That vet was ChinVet on here...So she at least took her to an experienced vet.I'll keep everyone posted as soon as I hear from the old owner....

I am a psychology student that is beginning to decide what I want to do in life lol. I have began to point my focus towards animals along with human's behavior towards animals. I have recently done research on the nature of hoarders and its a scary thing. It is an actual psychological disorder, with people afflicted with it thinking they can either take care of the animals or think that they are doing a "good" thing. They actually don't realize that they are doing anything wrong. If you ask them about the lack of food or smell of urine, they do not notice it. You can walk into a house with 100 cats and be knocked out by the smell, yet someone is living there, not noticing. Remember that it is an actual psychological disorder that can't be helped without intervention.

heres a really good article about animal hoarders and their mental state

Im not saying animal hoarders are good people-they aren't and should be prosecuted but they are mentally unstable and don't know what they are doing
