:sob: Cinders was a rescue black velvet that we picked up from a shelter about 5 years ago. She was originally names Slinky, and her cage mate was Riccochet, more descriptors of their actions when I picked them up at the shelter.

They had been described as two girls who ahd been together 5 years at that time. Both were BV, so we never knew if they were sisters/mom-daughter or what. I felt they were Mom-Daughter. So, I don't know how old Cinders was on Sunday when she was found limp in her cage. She was at least 10.

At the time of her passing, she had given birth to a total of 3 litters (4 babies). None of her babies survived her dues to either premie or a heat wave or unexplained toxic traces. She was the bestest "auntie-chin" to all my weanling girls. If fact, little Moxie was with her to the end.

While she may have been a sweetie to baby chins, she was also my pissing Queen. She was the first to get me in the face. She'd snark and charge you if she didn't want to be held (96% of the time). SHe'd tollerate being scritched under the chin until she remembered it was a human doing it, then she'd try to bite.

I will miss her.

Thanks Tawana and twighlightchinny. I think it was age and a broken heart. I just moved her into a smaller cage (run-sized vs. HUGE), and she just gave up fighting me.

I am so sorry Sandra. :( It's so hard to lose a loved one..especially one that's so close to you. :( Cinders will never forget you. :hearts:

I'm sorry Sandra. Give Ricochet an extra scritch from us all.

I'm sorry Sandra. Give Ricochet an extra scritch from us all.

I would if I could. Riccochet was the first chin to die on me. She had a great 2 months with us back in 2000. She was my first chin I necropsied as well, with the vet telling me there was no way to have saved her due to the extreme white cell count in her liver. He was surprised she made it as long as she did.

So, Moxie gets extra love until there's a new baby girl to wean.

Open mouth, insert foot. I meant to say Moxie. I'm sorry. :(

That's okay. Just wanted everyone else to be clear. ;-)

And thanks. It's hard to deal with the loss of one whether you have 1 or 50.
