Well today was a very sad day, my beloved Mocha died from what appears was a uterine infection of some sort. She was in with her 6 week old hoglets until yesterday when I found blood in the cage but couldn't figure out where it was coming from, her teats had been chewed on a little, seeing as how they have teeth so I seperated them. Mocha only had one litter here and I will be keeping three of her 4 hoglets. She is the proud mother of my high white pinto male. I will miss her dearly as she loved to sit in my hand curled in a ball, quills flat and sniffing around. She won me over at first snuggle.

Oh no. I am so sorry. Losing a mom would be heartbreaking.

Keep a close eye on the babies just in case. I've heard of girls who are caged together if one gets an uterine infection the other sometimes will also.

I'm so sorry...losing a hedgie is so hard, but I can't imagine losing a mom. I know it happens, but that's heartbreaking.
