Hey everyone,

I was just wondering how often do you bath your hedgehog ... I have had him for a week now and I would like to give him a bath. Could someone tell me a good way to do this. This will be his first bath ! Thanks :hearts:

I would never go above one bath a week. Too many and it will dry out their skin! If your hedgie has poopy feet from running on his wheel put him in the sink with about an inch or so of water. I find myself doing this alot :p .

I also have to agree, foot baths everyday, or every other day are fine but actual bath shouldn't be given to often and are usually not needed...but if you feel the need to bath you hog, I'd say one a month or maybe even every other week.

For a normal bath.. I usually put about an inch or 2 of water in the tub, with a rubber mat on the bottom of the tub, for extra traction, and use a toothbrush and lather them up with soap using the tooth brush(I use kitten gentle tear free shampoo, and aveno oatmeal bath when they have dry skin), and use an empty cup for rince time, Just scoop up the water and carefully pour it over your hog to rince the soap off, be careful not to get any soap or water in your hedgies eyes or ears.

for a foot bath...no more than 1 inch of water, and you chould be fine, I again use the toothe brush on their feet and clean off all the poopies. This works very well, or you can use a damp cloth and just gently wipe his feet clean instead, although I find the other method much easier.

GOOD LUCK!!

The easiest way to do a food bath I find is to put a towel or cloth (no loops) in the bottom of the tub or a pan. Use just enough water that it thoroughly soaks the towel. Let hedgie run around.
There isn't enough water to worry even the most anti-bath hedgie and walking on the towel helps get the dirt off. :)

As long as water is shallow enough so the hog can stand on its 4 feet (ie, not floating), he wouldn't mind too much. :) I use 2 containers, 1 for wash (and poops), and 1 for rinse.
