Hi everyone! I'm new to this website and I just wanted to introduce myself. I got my first chinchilla tonight and couldn't be more excited. I'll try and post a picture soon. Matt

Hi! I'm relatively new here, too, but you'll find the "old-timers" REALLY helpful- this is really a great place to learn about chinchillas.... don't be shy about asking anything, everyone is so wonderfully helpful and knowledgeable!

Congrats on the new chin! Is it a male or female, and how old?
btw, pictures are always demanded

Anyways, welcome!

Welcome to the forum. Do not hesitate to ask questions. Give your chinnie time in the cage. A move is extremely stressful on chins. You need to leave your chin along for atleast a week. Then slowly start the bonding process. Your chin needs to learn that the new cage is a 'safe' place. It is crucial. Along with that, make sure he/she (which did ya get?) is on a high quality chin food...everything from the pet store is bad. If it has anything besides pellets...it is bad. Make sure you are feeding a high quality hay....Oxbow and Kleenmama's are the best. If your chin is under 6 months..no treats. Older chins...no more than one raisin size treat 2-3 times a week. Some good ones are mini unfrosted shredded wheat, rose hips, slow cook oatmeal (a couple pieces), apple twigs (not the processed sticks..the actual twigs), and using a piece of approved wood is also good. There are several posts on treats, that is just a few that are okay...even though a chin does not need treat. Just high quality food, hay and water is best. Didn't mean to sound like a lecture. It just seems that lately a bunch of people have sold chins without making sure the new owners are aware of proper care. We do really love pics too. So, we will all be not-so-patiently waiting on you to post them. Enjoy!

Welcome! JBB pretty much summed it up for you. It's really important you don't give too many treats. I was guily of caving in to the cutness of my chinnies. One of mine had a bout with soft poo but is fine now. Thanks to this site I soon realized you can easily kill your chin with love.

I ordered a bunch of stuff from this site http://www.petproductsbynature.com/ It ROCKS! I recieved my stuff yesterday and my chinnies LOVE everything. I made them a bunch of new toys and they are having lots of fun!!

Hey & Welcome to CnQ. Congrats on your first chinnie. Can't wait to see pictures!!

Posting Pics: As ChiliBean said in a previous post, "When you reply, go down below the box and keep going past the submit button.

You will see manage attachments

Click there and then browse to where you have your pics saved. They have to be fairly small. It will tell you if they are too big. Then close the box.
That is pretty much it. Sometimes the toughest part is making sure the pictures are the right size."
