Guess what everyone future hubby said I can get a hedgehog!!! :hyper: Of course I have a long wait because I'm just starting to research on them and want to know everything. We're thinking after the summer because we have a lot going on. I'm really excited but will have to find someone on here that ships to Canada too because I refuse to get mine from the pet store. Anyway I just wanted to tell everyone even though it is a long long wait.

My zoo now has:

- 8 chins: Tigger, Roo, & Chance(males); Violet & Anna, Love, Stardust, and Mya(females)
- 1 Bearded Dragon(female): Kalahari
- 1 Betta Fish: Oscar
- 1 Future Hedgehog!!! I want a male.

Ya I noticed that in your signature awhile back. And you have a beardie too, so I can PM you and vice versa for advice. Btw did you get your hedgie from a breeder in Canada or a pet-store? I just refuse to get mine from Pets Unlimited so I'm opting to find a breeder. We already have a tentative name picked: Wicket (from the Ewoks- Star Wars). When I name things I'm in trouble cause that means I have to get them. I named all of my chins before they came. :hearts:

***So if anyone knows of a breeder in Canada that will ship let me know!

Actually no I did not get him from a breeder. He was from a petstore but I didn't purchase him. Awhile back I rescued a Chinchilla from a pet store in Cambridge Ontario and when I was there I met a women and her husband who deal with exotic rescue especially Hedgies. We talked for awhile and exchanged email addresses.

She has 15 Hedgies of her own as well as many different animals. She had my little guy come to her from a couple that bought him at the same pet store we met in. She takes in all kinds of rescues. She gave him a clean bill of health (other then not being socialized properly) and asked me to take him because she knew I had the time and love to give him. So he was a pet store Hedgie, but more so a needy hedgie. The couple gave him up because he wasn't "friendly" enough for them or something. However they were trying to handle him with gloves the whole time.

Long story short.. he's a pet store hedgie.. but I didn't purchase him from the pet store myself.

Hey great to hear your getting a hedgie. Personally i don't have any hoglets left and probably won't have any for about 3 months. On the good news heres the website for the Canadian Hedgehog assoc. http://www.canadianhedgehogassociation.com/ Their actually based in New Brunswick and i know one breeder that has recently moved back to New Brunswick sorry i don't have her email on hand but i know sophie breeds as well. I wouldn't recomend getting any sent in from alberta, Health Canada has linked some Albertan Hedgies with samonella.

Actually I won't be getting a hedgie till July at the earliest. I'm getting married in June and finishing my degree for May. So I want to be able to have some time to learn about hedgies and right now my life is a balancing act on the edge! So I will keep in contact with you too. I didn't realize there were breeders nearby, I know us chin breeders are scarce in the Atlantic. I found Sophies site but although I'm part french I never learned it and so can't read a word, wish it were in english too(cause a lot of people don't know french). Anyway you're not too far and my dad lived in Cape Breton for awhile so we've taken quite a few vacations to Nova Scotia. What colors do you usually have come up? From the color chart of the site you gave I'm interested in what they've classed as brown, cinnacto, or salt&pepper; but they are all very cute!!! Besides I'm not sure of hedgie genetics and how often those colors turn up? I'll keep in touch thanks for replying. :)
