Hi, My name is Kate and I joined chins-n-quills a long time ago. I havent been here in a long time and alot of people have joined since I was last here.
I have 8 chinchillas, ChiChi (m7) Pickle (m4) Lily (f3 1/2) Precious and Sugar (ff2) Poppy and Fudge (mf1yr 4 months) and Cookie (m1yr 4months)
I started out with just ChiChi (beige) and got addicted to Chinchillas. I got Chi Chi a friend called Rosie (grey). They had 4 children together but unfortunatly Rosie and her children all had a genetic disorder that we didnt know about until she was pregnant for the 2nd time. She had Sami and Emily, then Jack and Charlie. I lost them all.
I got Chi Chi a new friend when Rosie first got pregnant. She went off him so I had to seperate them. He got lonely so I got him Pickle (beige). Pickle and Chi Chi were best friends for a while until I got Lily (violet). Then Pickle decided he liked her better so Chi Chi ended up alone again.
Pickle and Lily had 3 girls, triplets. The first one out, a little beige, was still born. The second and third, precious and Sugar (grey) are identicle twins, one placenta. It was very hard to tell them apart. You can now as Sugar has a curly tail and precious has a straight tail.
Lily and Pickle eventually had another baby, Cookie (beige).
Chi Chi lived with his boys Jack and Charlie but they died and he was alone again.
Poor cheech, he always ends up alone.
So, I bought him a freind called petal. She was a beautiful wilson white. They had 2 children Poppy and Fudge. Fudge being a huge pink white was born deaf. He now seems to have some hearing but not very good.
Then one day when Poppy and Fudge were 9 weeks old Petal just keeled over and died. We have no idea what was wrong.
So I now have 8 chins. They are all so beautiful and all very different. Even the identicle twins have different personalities.
My best boy will always be chi chi as I have had him longest.
I now have another Emily, my 5 month old baby girl! She keeps me busy but I still have time for my chinnies. Also we have a cat called megan who gets bosseed about by Chi Chi!
My husband wanted me to get rid of some of the chins when the baby was born but hes given up trying to get me to sell them now.
Anyway, sorry for the long post. Thought I'd say hello as its been so long.
