My name's Amanda and I just got my fiance an albino hedgie for V-day, and I was just wondering when he would start opening up, he's quite shy right now :)

Hello and welcome, it takes them a few days to relax in their new homes. If he's young he might also be quilling in which you will have to work with him through it.

:welcome8: to Chins-n-Quills!
When we got our first hedgehog she was wicked grumpy but we held her everyday and she turned out to be the sweetest hedgehog! Quilling can be a downer but it is mostly a faze.
Good luck with your new hedgehog!

Hi! You should post some pics of the little sweetie, the name, and age too! Good luck with your new addition and hopefully he'll open up to you once settled in. All animals have an adjustment period it seems, and they differ depending a number of things.

Hey! Soooo glad to see you here! :)
Congrats on the prickle butt! The more you handle him the quicker he'll become less timid. What's his name?

:welcome10:I'm a new hedgie owner too! Got my little Snowball on Dec. 29. She was very shy at first, but much better now. It takes time, but eventually they warm up to you.

Hi Amanda, welcome to hedgehog ownership. Check out Hedgehog World (http://www.hedgehogworld.com/) for some great Hedgehog info. There is also a great article on 'Socializing The Grumpy Hedgehog'.
